Space-saving tips for your home

Big celebrity houses are just that, celebrity houses. In real life we often have to adapt to smaller spaces. That’s why our greatest asset is organization. With good distribution of furniture, appliances and other features of the house we can save space in our homes.

Today we are going to share some little tricks with you. Take a look at these ideas.

1. Multifunctional furniture

Choosing multifunctional furniture is an excellent option for saving space at home. It helps a lot if you only have one piece of furniture to serve several purposes rather than three with empty spaces. Use furniture with different compartments so you can store different things in each section.

2. Folding tables and stools

Most of the time things like tables and stools are unused. By choosing folding furniture we can gain comfort and space at home.

You can see a clear example of this in our Compact stools, which are ideal for storing in any corner of the house after use.

3. Built-in cupboards along the hallway

If you have a plain wall in a corridor it can be used for a large built-in cupboard to store clothes, accessories or everyday items.

4. Hanging cleaning equipment

Items such as brooms, mops and other cleaning equipment can end up filling small cupboards leaving no room for anything else. The solution is to hang them on any wall with small hooks so they are out of the way.

If you want to find different suggestions you can do so in our section of hooks and broom holders. You will find them very useful.

5. A wall full of book shelves

All right, you might be thinking that this is a waste of space but in fact it can be put to good use. If you live in a rented house, it’s possible that you have shelves in the property that the owner doesn’t want to remove. How can you make the most of them? By using them for more than just books. They are ideal to display photos, small vases, sewing boxes, etc. Any object that fits will save space it would be taking up somewhere else.

6. Bedhead wardrobes

The wall behind the bed is not normally used for anything else as it is thought to be an impractical space where nothing can be done. However with the right wardrobe you can give the wall a second life as well as a stylish headboard.

7. No more partition walls

Knocking down walls is a good way of gaining space in a house and also gives more light in your home. This gives the impression of a much larger space and more choice in how you use it.

8. Beds with built-in storage

Beds are one of the biggest pieces of furniture that take up the most room in a house. Therefore, it makes sense to make the most of that space by choosing a bed with a storage base or drawers underneath to keep boxes, warm clothes, rugs, etc.

9. Cupboards with mirror doors

The space behind your bathroom mirror can give you very useful extra storage space for small bottles and all kinds of hygiene and cleaning products.

10. Sliding doors

Think about it, when a door is opened it takes up space which cannot be used for anything else. This does not happen with a sliding door which leaves much more free space around it that can then be used for extra storage or to fit furniture.

These are our ten ideas for saving space at home. What do you think? Do you already use any of these tips in your home? Tell us in the comments, we’d love to read about them.
